With a double cast, the musical ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ is set to open on the Saint Kentigern stage in April. The classic tale is as relevant as when it first hit our stages on Broadway in 1964. It takes place in Anatevka, a small village in Russia, where external influences threaten the religious and cultural traditions of Reb Tevye’s family.

Based on Ian Fleming’s 1964 novel, ‘Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang’ is a Truly Scrumptious, magical musical for all the family.

This year, the Senior College Drama production will take a different direction with a series of plays. These will be performed in the new Dance Studios and will take the audience on a journey movement, music and drama.

From contemporary dance to jazz, hip hop and classical ballet, this year’s Dance Showcase will be a superb display of largely student-led performances, entailing over 100 dancers. The works have all been prepared by Year 12 and 13 Dance student choreographers for the two fabulous performance nights. The pressure is on both the choreographers and the performers to get every last detail correct as their work will be assessed for NCEA.

The Wearable Arts Show is a much-loved annual fixture on the Middle College calendar, bringing a mix of outlandish costumes and dance performances from our youngest students. With the catwalk reaching out into the audience, watch as boys and girls in Years 7-10 ‘strut their stuff’ under the watchful eye of the judges.

The Maori & Pasifika Cultural evening is a happy celebration of the mix of cultural backgrounds that make up our student body. It is a wonderful display on the pride with which the students represent their culture, their school and their families and the sense of belonging they bring to the stage.
