Tennis Premier Team & Academy Coach - Peter Langsford
Peter represented NZ both at Senior and Junior level . He competed on the International Circuit for 5 years , competing in tournaments such as Wimbledon, French Open etc... before embarking on a coaching career, and spending 10 years in Germany.
He then returned to New Zealand as the National Junior Coach and Fed Cup Captain. He spent the next 10 years in this position coaching the players such as Brett Steven, Steve Downs, James Greehalgh ,Claudine Toleafoa, and Leanne Baker, to name a few that went on successful tennis careers.
In 2002 he established the first Sports Academy at SKC for Tennis and Golf, and was instrumental in setting up the other Sports Academies that followed in later years. The players who came from the Academy went on to represent NZ in Davis Cup were Rubin Statham and Marcus Daniel , and in Fed Cup Kairangi Vano and Paige Hourigan. More than 30 players have gone on to represent NZ all around the world in Junior Teams and individual competitions.
During this period Peter has arranged scholarships for and placed over 40 students in USA universities, many of whom still reside in America today. Peter was a New Zealand Tennis Advisory Board member, Board member of the New Zealand International Tennis Club and one of the founding members of Counties Manukau Sport.
