Saint Kentigern College offers international students specialised tennis and golf programmes combined with mainstream academic study or ESOL.

Full academic year and short course programmes are available.Our programme

Our programme offers top level coaching and competition play in tennis and golf for students who excel in their chosen sport.

The programme is selective, ensuring dedicated coaching and providing a pathway for top players to receive the attention necessary to get to the top and stay there. An entry criteria is required for those wishing to enter these specialised sport /academic programmes.

Our high performance programmes focus on individual player development, channeling energy towards sporting success while ensuring that balance is achieved within a sound academic programme. All our national students study NCEA academic courses, or Cambridge if required, to enable them to continue with their tertiary studies on leaving secondary school education.

This wonderful opportunity in both sport and academic allow students to access highly regarded USA sports scholarships. Academic programmes are individualised for students to allow for an easy transition into academic degrees in the USA. For both national and international students  interested in USA scholarships we provide assistance with:

International students enter a specially designed and balanced classroom programme, concentrating on English, mathematics, general science and their chosen sport (other subjects as required).

Academic Year

For our International students the New Zealand academic year runs from the beginning of February each year until graduation in early December. Vacations occur in April (2 weeks), July (3 weeks) and September/October (2 weeks). In New Zealand the seasons are reversed from those of the Northern Hemisphere and occur as follows:

  • Summer: January - March
  • Autumn: April - June
  • Winter: July - September
  • Spring: October - December
