Congratulations to the combined College and Girls’ School Year 7 and 8 netball teams who have had a fantastic day of play at the South Eastern Zone Netball Tournament today. The 7A team won their grade, the 8A team were second in theirs whilst 8B placed third in the B grade. Whilst not placed, the 7B team also enjoyed their competition.
Winners of the Year 7 competition, 7A had great games against Somerville, Ferguson and Howick Intermediates in the pool play before facing off against Bucklands Beach Intermediate in the semi-final. A win in the semi brought them up against Ferguson Intermediate once again in the final. This was a fantastic game where the girls dominated the court to win 13-6.
Runners up in the Year 8 competition, 8A also played well throughout their pool play against Manurewa Intermediate, Pakuranga Intermediate and Sancta Maria and then beat Somerville Intermediate in the semi-final. The final against Bucklands Beach Intermediate (BBI) was a really close game with only one goal separating the teams at the final whistle with BBI winning 12-11.
Teams 7A and 8A have now qualified for the Auckland Zone competition in mid-August. Well done girls!
